Black Willow, from which aspirin was derived, is also a great aid for relieving pain, inflammation and reducing fever.
Because Black Willow bark contains salicin (modern aspirin is the synthetic form of salicylic acid, a precursor of salicin), it is listed in most herbal references for pain relief, and to reduce arthritic inflammation & swelling. The North American Indians reportedly drank it as a fever-reducing tea. COMMON NAMES: Pussy Willow, Catkins Willow.
Common use: Arthritis, rheumatism, joint inflammation, backache, ovarian pain, headache, fever, mouthwash for sore gums, gargle for tonsillitis, poultice for burns, wounds & insect bites; anaphrodisiac (curbs sex drive).
Suggested Directions: As an addition to the diet, take 1 or 2 capsules, three times daily with water at mealtime. DON'T USE IF ALLERGIC TO ASPIRIN (SALICYLATES).
