No one knows for sure when iced tea was actually invented—Southerners have been enjoying a sweetened version of the stuff for centuries. But it is widely accepted that the refreshing beverage became the "it" drink during the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis when it was so hot that fair-goers went in search of something cold to drink and found . . . iced tea. Since then this summer favorite has been served at garden parties, pool parties, and lazy afternoons of sitting on the porch and passing the time away. Our new favorite is from Zhena's Gypsy Tea and comes in five yummy, organic, fair trade flavors: Blueberry Acai, Goji Berry Pomegranate, Pineapple Green, Mango Ginger White, and Strawberry Osmanthus (a sweet, flowering plant). This week, we're loving the Mango Ginger White, a blend of exotic mango and ginger fused with sweet blackberry leaves and roses—its aromatherapeutic properties are purportedly helping us with our concentration and confidence. Each recyclable canister (one guy we know turned his into a martini shaker!) contains five gorgeous (and biodegradable) silk tea pillows, which make a quart-size pitcher each.
