Write down everything that has to do with your kitchen life, and you will have a lot more luck keeping track of things

You may already keep a journal for many reasons (to catalog your baby's progress, perhaps, or to reflect on your personal growth), but have you ever considered keeping a kitchen journal? I strongly recommend it. I love mine! Write down everything that has to do with your kitchen life, and you will have a lot more luck keeping track of things like: - your kids' likes and dislikes
- meals you've served on holidays and for parties
- food costs
- tracking dates that food was stored
- cooking triumphs and disasters
- hopes and dreams for renovations and appliance upgrades
Your journal may be very different from mine, and as you get in the habit of keeping it, you will decide what works best for you and your family. I suggest a binder so you can add paper as you go along and put coupons, clipped recipes, and grocery receipts in the pockets. Some folks prefer a spiral notebook, an online journal, or a small box to hold notes, recipes, and receipts. You can also teach the kids to use the journal. This will make it a family affair that contains far more input and useful information. But keep the journal for the kitchen only. It's not the place for notes about family vacations, soccer schedules, or landscape renovations. Just don't forget to review it now and then. Study what you have jotted down, make notations, and discard anything you no longer need. Once you start keeping this journal, you will be amazed at how much fuller and more energized your kitchen life will be. Trust me! No one has commented on this article. |
