 Teach your children the mitzvah of Gemilut Chasidim (Acts of Loving Kindness) and Bikor Cholim (visiting the sick).
Gardening is a wonderful thing to do with anyone, but if you have children or are working with children this summer then you have an extra special opportunity to teach about mitzvot. Even if you have not started a garden yet, July isn't too late to begin. Plant a flower garden. Time considerations may make it necessary for you to purchase plants that are close to blooming. At the same time, plant perennials that will blossom year after year.
When flowers have blossomed, have children clip and wrap the stems in wet paper towels. Arrange with a local hospital, nursing home or the clinic at your camp to accept the flowers or to allow you to deliver them to patients.
